Sinopsis

This book examines the phenomenon of electronic violence through sexting among Colombian adolescents, exploring its legal, psychological, and social dimensions. Based on a quantitative study with 242 adolescents from Santa Marta, the research reveals that nearly half of the participants engage in sexting, often without parental supervision or time restrictions in the use of ICTs. The findings show that sexting is associated with both positive and negative emotional expressions—ranging from feelings of safety and intimacy to shame, guilt, and irritability—highlighting the emotional complexity of this practice.

The study underscores the crucial role of family communication, parental monitoring, and educational strategies in mitigating the risks of sexting. It situates the Colombian context within broader international frameworks, comparing national legislation with measures such as Mexico’s Olimpia Law and Spain’s reforms on digital violence. Building on this comparative legal and psychological analysis, the book proposes preventive criminal policy guidelines designed to protect adolescents, promote digital responsibility, and foster safe online environments.

By integrating perspectives from law, psychology, and education, the work contributes to the design of preventive strategies that combine regulation, emotional support, and family involvement as essential tools for addressing sexting as a form of electronic violence.
